The Flask of Maple Syrup

We spent a couple years searching the depths of the internet, the shelves of country stores and seeing what other producers were using as containers for syrup. To find a container we liked for our maple syrup felt like a surprisingly daunting task. How could it be so hard when we live in the maple syrup belt of the world? Nothing was easy to label, showed off the maple syrup’s beauty, came in different sizes like we wanted or worked for the day to day use as a syrup container should. I can’t remember how we found it but we finally settled on the flask and we are happy we did. The container has been used for many different liquids throughout history and it meets all our criteria.

Flasks are probably most commonly thought of as vessels to carry liquor and rightfully so. They were the way to sneak liquor around in your pocket during prohibition. They allowed people to nip at and share liquor as they ignored the laws. When prohibition ended their use declined but they were still used on occasion. Flasks as we know them date back to the 18th century. They carried libations, gunpowder or perfume.
We love them as maple syrup bottles and we appreciate the rich history of this container. The flasks we sell our syrup in are of course different than the ones you envision liquor in but they are very similar in shape. Flasks, regardless of contents, are great gifts. They are great for Valentine’s Day, Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, Birthdays, Graduations or Promotions.
